“Quot“Taking the fear out of birth”…that’s exactly what Blythe did for me.

I had a traumatic labor and delivery experience with my first child, so when I became pregnant with my second, my husband and I knew we were going to need coaching through it. Since my pregnancy was already a high risk one, I needed to deliver at a hospital, so a midwife and birthing clinic were not an option. Then we learned about doulas, and how they provide personal support to women and families during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. That was exactly what we needed! A friend of mine referred me to Blythe and from then on I felt confident and even excited about labor!

We met a few times before labor to go over my birth plan. Then the day came and we called her at 9pm right after my water broke. She met us at the hospital and set out the Christmas lights, turned on music and made the room as comfortable and calming as she could. With each contraction she coached me through it calmly, reminding me to breathe, and putting pressure on my back. She guided my husband to do the same, and they took turns for the next 3 hours.

We were so appreciative that she knew the “hidden secrets” of the hospital. She asked for a wireless baby heart rate monitor so I could stand and walk around the room instead of being hooked up and needing to stay in the bed. Because my baby was sunny side up, I decided to ditch my original birth plan of no drugs and go for an epidural. Blythe encouraged me and supported me the whole way! The epidural worked wonders and made the rest of my labor and delivery truly amazing!  This experience was nothing like my first and it has made me not afraid should another child come along. I am so very thankful for Blythe and the skills, compassion, encouragement and support she gave me!” - Gina H

“Blythe was one of the first people I called once I knew I was pregnant. From the beginning she asked the the right questions to help me explore what type of birth would be best for me and answered all the questions I had about my journey through pregnancy and the birth itself. I felt empowered by the education I received from Blythe and prepared as she helped me construct a birth plan that was best for me and flexible to the unpredictable nature of birth. Then came the day when the contractions started…Blythe was available to my texts and calls that day to ease my worries and to tell me when it was time to head to the birthing center. My birth came on quickly and Blythe came to my home to check in on me and confirm that it was time to go. I felt such relief the moment she arrived and so did my husband ; ) Blythe’s guidance through my birth was transcendental. She was there to help me ride the wave of each contraction. And to my surprise her hands were still intact after I held them tightly for all my hours of labor. Blythe was meant to do this work and and expert in this field, I would highly recommend her to any birthing person. My baby and I finally met earth side and it was an empowering experience thanks to Blythe.” - Rachel J

“Being a first time mom, I was so scared and unprepared for pregnancy and labor not to mention breast feeding. It felt like everyone around me just wanted to share their horror stories. I was so grateful to have met Blythe. I actually started asking her all my questions and finding comfort in her knowledge and her excitement in the beauty of pregnancy and birth. Then I found out she was a doula. I had so much peace knowing Blythe could be there for me during my entire pregnancy and I didn’t have to feel scared or alone.

I am extremely grateful for Blythe’s knowledge but also for her desire and excitement in helping others find strength and joy in this hard journey of pregnancy. I’m pregnant with my 2nd baby right now and I message Blythe on a weekly basis. I go to her with all my crazy questions and concerns. She’s also helping my husband and I prep for labor. Thank you for all you do Blythe!” - Erica M

“My first birth was pretty traumatic and resulted in an unplanned C-section. I was determined to have a VBAC for my second child. Blythe was there to answer any questions I had, I felt she was very educated on different birthing methods and laboring techniques. She constantly reassured me of what my body was cable of doing. I truly believe that with her encouragement, support and advice the success of my VBAC was made possible.” - Paulina R
